conditional formatting limited to 3 conditions

Lynn Kuykendall

when comparing vendor bids I have each vendor cost column
coded with a color, then a column bringing over minimum of
all bids. I then use conditional formatting to bring over
color, but can only use 3 conditions.
example: cell formula "min(a1,b1,c1,d1,e1)", then
condition 1 "if equal to a1, then (pattern color selected)"
So after using condition 2 & 3, there is no condition for
d1 and e1.
Any help would be great, thanks

Hi Lynn,
The limitation of 3 is per cell. If you format an entire
row or multiple cells on a row then each cell colored with a
C.F. is using of one of it's 3 allowed C.F.

You can include in each C.F any or all of the things you can change with a C.F.
font: style, strike through, and or color
border: which borders, limited number of styles, and/or color)
patterns (interior): pattern and/or color

I get the impression you are using up a C.F. for each attribute.

I don't understand what your conditions actually are from your
description and which cells get colored, but if I did not already
answer your question then first take a look at these two web pages
for more information:
