Conditional Formatting Display Problem

I am using MS Access 2003 (11.5614.5606).

I have a form and use a conditional format to highlight records that have a
field value that is older than today. In the field column on the form, the
condition is:

Field Value Is less than Now()

When I open the form it seems to flicker and recalculate over and over, never
fully displaying all of the records.

I know it's a conditional format issue because when I remove the conditional
format it displays correctly when I open it.

Is this a bug or have I missed some setting somwhere. Thoughts?

That was it. I dislike the workaround but that sounds like all there
is to it.
