Conditional formating of a range of cells based on the left-most c

B

Bob Arnett

I want to format (highlight) a horizontal range of cells based on the value
of the cell in the left column of the range.
i.e.
A B C D E F G
1 2002 5 9 6 8 2004
2 2003 7 10 3 1
3 2004 8 6 3 11
4 2005 1 3 7 2

.... so that A3:E3 would be filled with a specified color because A3=G1

Select A1:E4 and Format>Conditional Formatting>Formula is

=$A1=$G$1 Note the $ signs are a must.

Format to a color and OK

Aha! I had entered =$A$1=$G$1, I now see the sense in it. Yours worked
perfectly.
Thanks.
