Concerned about phising

I have downloaded a Video Editor program and each time I click on the
shortcut to load the program I get a message that it is downloading "MS
Access Data Components 2.5" and another message that it is downloading "Turbo
Tax - It's Deductible". Should I be really concerned? I cannot contact the
company until Monday. I know you cannot speak for Turbo Tax, but would I
expect a program that is not an Access Database to be downloading the MS
Access Data Components?
I am using MiS Access 2003.

The MDAC contains .DLLs that support I/O activities for a number of
Microsoft products. An Access database (.MDB or .MDE or .ADP or .ADE or
..ACCDB or .ACCDE) will rarely, if ever, download the MDAC automatically.
Many applications prepared with Microsoft's VB or C++ or VB.NET or C# do so,
if the necessary support .DLLs for their database functions.

Frankly, I would have more concerns about software that automatically,
without my consent, downloaded a commercial application such as Turbo Tax --
it may be that whatever video editor you downloaded it supported by
advertising and having your computer cluttered with software you may not
want is the "price you pay" for using the free software. (Though there's
nothing inherently wrong with a legitimate copy of Turbo Tax -- I've used it
myself, but purchased my copy at a brick and mortar store; it didn't come
unbidden with some "free"ware.)

In any case, what you are having is not an Access database software
problem... you'll have to look elsewhere for a solution.

Thanks Larry and Tom. I am pretty sure that the Turbo Tax download was an ad
and not the full program. I will load the latest version of MDAC (thanks for
the link) and maybe this will stop them from trying to download it. This was
a evaluation version and not free if you want the results not to be
superimposed with "SAMPLE".
I will contact the company on Monday when their customer service is available.

Thanks again for your help.
