We have 2 PC's connected to a router that is connected to
a ADSL line. ADSL connection works for both PC's. The
Shared folder on PC2 is visible from PC1, however an
error message is displayed when access is tried from PC2
to PC1.

Error:

"ComputerName" is not accesible. You might not have
permission to use this netowrk resource. Cotnact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permission.

Logon failure: The user has not been granted the
requested logon type at this computer.

Both PC's are running XP Home. No passwords are set on
the user account - Both Pc's have the guest account
disabled. Firewall Software is disabled. I have tried
all the fixes from the Knowledge Base that have been
suggested. I have also tried to act on some advice given
here to use administrative Tools - however I don't find
the options given.

Interesting as I have the same issue. Yesterday I
upgraded my PC to one with a faster processer. I removed
the Hard Drive from the old machine and installed it in
the new one. Had to reinstall XP to get the new beast to
come to life, but all my settings were retained after the
re-install and dowload of all the updates / Service
Packs, etc.

There are three PC's on the network... the main one and
two others connected through a router. Internet
connection is DSL and all three can access the web with
no problem. I've been able to get all three to print from
the networked printer, but when I try to access the
shared files on the main computer... I get the same
message as you do!!

I tried changing the name of the network to assure that
all were accessing the same network, etc. But no
success so far.

Should I re-run the Network Wizard and start again??

Any and all ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.
