When I turn on my computer, i get the following message

Windows could not start. The following file is missing or
corrupted \windows\system32\config\system

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows
setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the
first screen to start repair.

when i put the cd in, the same message comes up. If i
press 'r' or F1 or any button at all, it just restarts the
computer. It started after I did the windows update. It
restarted, but the computer locked up when I clicked my
name. so i manually restarted it, and that's when the
message came up. hope you can help
