Computer Wants To Connect To Old Computer Name On Network

S

Scott

I have a home network setup with 3 computers in a workgroup. One
computer is only used as central storage for other computers. I
changed the name of that computer a few weeks ago from Server01 to
Storage, deleted offline files pointing at Server01, and set up
offline files pointing to Storage.

Inconsistantly, I get messages that Server01 is unavailable for
reconnect. I do not have any mapped drives or offline files with the
old name (that I can find anyway). I've searched through the registry
for Server01, but cannot find it. I do not know why it is looking for
the old computer name.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to install MS power toy tweak ui, it has an
option to clear all network history connections at
shutdown. Yes there are allot of people out there that
have scripts to do this, but beware, there are allot of
AS* Holes out there that would tell you to download it
being a trojan virus.

good luck

Who are these people, Steve?
