Computer very Slow & not utilising Free Ram, average always >=190mb Free ram

Hello, All!
Recently I added 128mb ram stick to my P3, 1ghz, 256mb Ram, WinXP Pro Sp2.
Computer recognized the new ram and shows total 384mb ram. But always Free
Ram is more than 200mb. PageFile setting is Initial 384mb & Maximum 768 &
average usage 112mb. I have tried opening several different programs at the
same time but still the free ram is not going below 190mb. Tried
IOpagelocklimit, DisablePagingExecutive, LargeSystemCache Tweaks. Not used
the tweak Unload dlls from memory (AlwaysUnloadDll).
How to make my computer use the maximum Ram?

With best regards, Brock. E-mail: (e-mail address removed)

You're working at a problem that is non-existent. While it is desirable to
have only necessary Services and background apps running, trying to keep
RAM usage down isn't the correct approach. Windows uses Physical RAM
and Virtual Memory together to best handle the workload. If you've not
read the late Alex Nichol's excellent white paper on XP Memory - it's
worth a read. http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm

Brock,

You might check your processor usage. To do this press ctrl+alt+del > click
task manager > click the performance tab. Your CPU usage should stay below
40 % besides some spikes here and there. At idle with no programs running it
should stay below 10 %. Sometimes it differs from computer to computer but
reply back and let us know where it stays on average. My thoughts are that
you may be having too much processor usage going on which can be caused by
spyware and viruses. Some more things you might check would be your Hard
Drive free space which should be atleast 20% free, and Hard Drive
Fragmentation both can be found within Start > All Programs > Accessories >
System Tools > Disk Defragmenter. Run an Analyze and take its advice. Good
Luck

From my reading it seems that he wants to use all his ram, not minimize
free ram.

And from my reading it seems that "he" is reading wrong web sites and trying
to tweak perfectly good thing.
First tweak doesn't do anything in WinXP (and 2k since SP1), you can put
your first grade mark there, or type this value: PlzBillGatesUseMyRamHehe
Second applies only to ntoskrnl.exe and will cause few megabytes (like 2) to
be charged against RAM when they can be paged out because they are not being
referenced.
And the third one doesn't belong on workstation and most servers... oh and
apparently there is one extra "tweak" in progress.

Thanks for the replies. Please read carefully my request. I am worried of
the Free wasted Ram. I wish my computer to use the maximum Ram. Free ram is
waisted Ram right?
