Computer turns self off and on or just off while using!!

I have a Windows XP computer AMD Athlong 2100 CPU, Abit KX7-333R
motherboard, AMD thermal colling system, 1 gb ram, 80 gb hd slave, 80
gb hd master, DVD drive and burnerATI all in wonder radion 8500DV 64MB
video card. This computer will either shut itself off and on by itself
or completely turn it self off while I am using it. I thought the
problem was because my wall electric plug in was not grounded (which I
had fixed), but it still seems to enjoy doing this!! I have had the
computer checked out by a tech and he couldn't find anything wrong with
it. The only time it does this is when I am either working with video
editing or with photos. I also have a monitor to tell me if its
overheating and no problem there. Can anyone please help me with this
problem! Thanks

Hi

Is this a complete shutdown or a restart? If the latter:

If you don't see any error messages, right click on My Computer, select
Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on Settings under Startup and
Recovery and disable 'Automatically restart'. Next time your PC reboots,
you should see a Blue Screen. Could you please post the Stop Code that
accompanies that BSOD back here? With that your problem could be isolated.

If the former, please have a look in the Event Viewer for any 'Errors'. If
any are found, could you please post the Event ID and Source?

i've had the same problem with a few machines the causes where Sophos
antivirus as the latest update has major problems eg cause machine to
re-start or the other one was the fan on the heatsink had failed and
the computer was shuting down to protect the processor. To get round
the latter just start up in safe mode and disable the services. then
re-start hope this helps

If you are plugging your PC into a wall socket instead of a quality UPS
you are just asking for problems.
