Computer suddenly turns off while booting up

hello,

i've got an hp pavilion a804n running a 2.80ghz celeron D processor. it was
infected with viruses in the past and now i'm having problems. When i start
it up it sometimes just shuts itself off and other times i'm able to start
the computer normally and then after about 30 seconds i get a window that
says "system shut down" and it gives me various problems such as a "DCOM"
error. It seems like anytime i try and run a program it overloads and then
turns off? Now i'm trying to re-install and when i try to boot from the cd it
just shuts off. How can i get it to run normally again?

Don't see you ever got a response to this... One thought: If you've not
checked them; check that your fans (especially the one on the Celeron)
are not clogged and that the intakes and exhausts on your pc are open. If
your system is seeing the processor get too hot; it will
shutdown. You can look at the temps in your BIOS I believe. I'm not
familiar with your specific computer
but that is fairly Generic. A good hint is to turn off and walk away for a
half hour or more; come back and just power up and do
nothing except to login. Then let it sit for 20 minutes and time it to see
if it shuts off; if it does; turn it back on immediately and
log back in and again let it sit and time it. If it shuts in noticebly less
time; it may be overheating... And in this case it failed sooner
due to it not having cool down time. You can try the half hour off again
and see if it takes longer to fail again as secondary proof.
I don't gurantee it and it could be a virus; but definitely opene it up and
check the fans for blockage.

Dallas... Note I'm not an MVP.
