computer shuts down right after connecting to internet

I recently upgraded from windows 95 to windows xp. The
computer operates fine until I log on to internet and
then within 45 seconds the computer shuts down. Any
suggestions?

I had similar issue two months ago. Other symptoms
included notebook shutting down when lid closed and when
F7 button pushed. Selected yes on the 'report to MS' page
and they detected and fixed a bad font of all things. Have
you gone to MS support page and had a driver diagnosis or
update check done? (though you may not even be able to do
that if Internet connection lost immediately after
opening.}
