Computer shut down whilst scanning !??

Hi

Can someone give me some guidance please? I have a Toshiba laptop an
since my last full system scan on 24th June, when I go to do a ful
system scan, it just closes the whole system down half way through.

I thought it was to do with the Toshiba Power Management tools s
adjusted them to not go into Standby mode but it made no difference.

So, I individually scanned each folder and the following three folders
when scanned closed down my laptop completely. I did this a couple o
times to make sure I wasn't going mad !

I am not no computer expert but hopefully these folders may mea
something to you. Any help/guidance you can give me would be muc
appreciated

Folders are as follows:-

I386/COMPDATA
Windows/DriverCache/I386
Windows/ServicePackFile/I386/lang

As you can see I386 keeps coming up but I have no idea what this is!

Look forward to hearing from yo

Hi

The I386 folder(s) contain the setup files for XP. May I suggest that you
contact Toshiba for further guidance with this problem?

HI, I had a similar problem with a Fujitsu Siemens laptop. Simple solution
might be to check that the processor and fan are clear of dust accumulation -
the thing works very hard when scanning, and if cooling is insufficient, will
shut down.
