Computer Set Up Question

Is there anyone that is experienced in building computers who might be able
to tell me if the following set up has any potential problems in being able
to run DAOC or other online type games.

I have high-speed internet access with roadrunner

The computer I am thinking about putting together is as follows:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard

AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64 4000+, 2.4 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache 64-bit

Two ATI Radeon X800 XL PCI Express cards

2 1 GB sticks of PC3200 DDR Ram (would more be helpful)

2 120 GB SATA 7200 rpm hard drives that will be set up to run programs
simultaneously

The rest of the computer will be pretty standard stuff DVD, CD R/W, etc.

Can anyone comment on their experience with any of the above or their
thoughts on this. Thanks in advance--skip

1what are doing with two ati pci e cards

sli only works with nvidia cards
although you could always give one to me, lol

2 why on earth do you need 2 GB of ram, save some cash

Unless money is no object to you, that it is complete over kill
i'm guessing thats costing ya nigh on 3 grand plus, to enjoy those games you
don't need to spend that much

i would do this instead
change from a 4000 to 3800 cpu(save about $200)

either get a single ATI x850($400) or if sli is what you crave two 6800's
(Depending on how liquid you are GT or Ultra, ultra being the best card
availible) The two ultras will cost you almost a grand, personally at the
rate at which graphics technology moves i wouldn't do it, but many argue you
can get most of your money back when you choose to upgrade.

Save cash and buy 1 Gb of high performace ram from corsair or OCZ, buy it in
2 512mb sticks so you can run dual channel.

since you appear to be a big spender and a western digital raptor or two.
They come in two sizes 36 and 74 gb, buy two and use raid 0(its built into
your motherboard read the manual to find out more) and the pc will be real
fast, you notice this change more than any other.

One thing you haven't metioned is your psu(power supply unit) if you buy a
cheap one or use one that comes with your case, your'll be luck to get your
pc to power up. When it comes to sli setups its name brand only, either
antec, targan(i think thats how its spelt) etc. you'll need about 500w at
least to keep your system from suffering from failure at load conditions

Either way building a pc is fun, but if you don't know what your doing it
might end up beening an expensive failed project. I've been playing with
hardware since i was 11 and i still learn something new everyday. Do your
research before hand and you won't be disappointed. Heres some sites that

Great motherboard, if you want to use 2 Nvidia cards that it.

I would second the 3800+ recommendation. It's $200 cheaper.

....and what are you gonna do with those right now? ATI's Multi-Rendering
isn't yet operational: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22074 . I would
buy a 6800GT now, and then another identical one in the future.

Unless you're doing massive video editing or Photoshop work, you won't need
2GB RAM. Get 2x 512MB extreme low latency instead. It will be faster for
95% of operations.

You'd be better off with a Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000rpm WD740GD,
and a second larger drive (200GB+) for storage.

Of course if the OP wants to use the 2 ATI graphics cards stated, then such
an ATI chipset based motherboard must also be used.

Based on ATI's track record with releases and availability,
I wouldn't be holding my breath for that release period.
