Computer resumes from standby

Patrick Wentzel

Hi

My Windows XP SP2 computer resumes by itself from standby every now and
then, it's quite annoying and I haven't got a clue as to why it does it. It
did it before sp2 also. It's like there's a ghost in the machine.

Has anyone seen this happen?

TIA,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Got any scheduled tasks? Autoupdate for Windows, Antivirus, spyware
detection, or firewalls? Any of those that are allowed to wake the system
could be causing this behavior.

The fax if configured to wake it up, will wake it up too.

Hello,

Check your bios to see if "wake on lan" or "wake on ring" aren't on...
because if they are what it does is if you have a lan connection and someone
try to acess your computer if it's off it will awake it the same thing goes
for wake on ring... in this case on the modem if someones call you by
phone... voilá computer awakes...
