Computer Restart

Hi folks:
I have a problem that is not earth shaking but is a real pain in the
you-know-what. About every second time I do a restart ony computer (if
required after downloading updates or simply to let the system sort itself
out after having multiple windows running) it fails to reboot. I have to
power down and do a cold boot. If anyone out there has run into this before I
would appreciate a heads-up on how to eliminate it.
Best Regards

You do not say how far it gets in "shutting down"
You say that you have multiple windows running.

Try closing the windows, and ALL the programs that you are using before you
click "restart".

You don't just say "hey, let's shut down". A computer is a filing system,
desk, etc, and should be treated the same way.

Thanks for your reply Mick. Yeah all the windows get shutdown and I usually
wait 2-3 minutes for the sytem to sort out all the files before I pounce on
the restart button. The restart proceeds to the point where the desktop
clears, I get the message saying Windows is shutting down and the screen
"blacks out". This glitch is something new and only started about two weeks
ago. As I said, it's an intermittent thing. One time it reboots normally and
the next time it doesn't. Its not a big deal...just something I was curious
about. If it really p....d me off I could get rid of it, but it means a whole
day of sitting in front of this thing just reloading files and old updates.
Once again, thanks for your input. Have a merry Xmas.
