computer restart

I have A problem with my gateway windows xp. When I turn off the
computer windows shuts down properly, the computer powers down properly,
and shuts off, only too restart again 3seconds later as if I had pushed
the power button. Has anyone got any ideas? I have tried everything I
can think of and cant find any help on the web. Please understand
windows is shutting down properly, I have unchecked automatic restart in
device manager, am not getting any error messages shutting down or on
restart. The only way I can shut it off permantly is too hold the power
button in for 3 seconds as soon as it comes back on again and then it
will stay off, other then this problem the computer works great.
