I have a Sony Vaio Desktop, 3.4 GHZ Pentium 4, 2GB DDR Ram, 256mb Video
Memory, 320 GB Hard Drive, Windows Media Center 2005. Today I left my
computer transfering some videos from an external hard drive to the computer.
When I came back the computer was only showing the starting windows XP logo
loading, when it finish loading the computer restart and takes me to diferent
options, I tryied all of them: Last Configuration that worked, Safe Mode etc,
nothing works, is there anything also I can do? I have 3 years worth of
pictures in that PC.
Please help!!!

you can do a repair install of xp that is if your hard drive is not bad.
boot with the xp disk and let it load up when you get to the first screen
when it asks to repair go for the install windows xp, when you get to the
next
screen it will ask again to do a repair or new install of windows, choose do
a
repair. It will save your files and programs and is like a full install so
you will
need your cd key.

Thank you for your help but my computer does not come with a Windows XP CD,
it has a hole system recovery in a diferent partition of the hard drive.

First things first. Backup the data - and never be without a full and
complete backup. Slave the drive in another XP or Windows 2000 computer
and copy the important information.

Only after the data is recovered, run a chkdsk on the drive. If that
doesn't work you can purchase a Windows Media Center 2005 CD and try a
repair install.

Otherwise do a restore with the recovery CD supplied with the system.
Next time make sure you get an installation CD with the system. And
always have a current backup.
