My computer has been working fine until recently.
Approximately 10 seconds after login, it powers off (not
shutdown). I have looked through software I have
installed recently, uninstalled display drivers, and even
reseated the video board and memory chips. I dont think
it is a heat problem as it runs ok in safe mode. Any
idea/help you could give would be appreciated, thank you.

maybe bad power supply?

if i'm understanding your problem correctly...

Maybe you have the display resolution set too high for your monitor?

that shouldnt cause the computer to power off....
Yes, actually it can do this. The problems could also be caused by
overheating, bad RAM, faulty processor, or other hardware issues.
However, since the op says his computer works in Safe Mode, he has
already changed the video drivers, and doesn't think it is
heat-related, he should check out the graphics resolution and the
physical connectors to the monitor from his computer. Swapping out the
video card with a known-working one is a possibility, also. Of course,
diagnosis via Usenet is an inexact science. ;-)
