Computer keeps rebooting

I'm trying to help a friend of mine with his computer and I'm having no luck. His computer is running Windows XP. He left his computer on all night in standby mode and the next day when he tried to use it, the computer was locked-up. He rebooted the computer and now it just keeps rebooting. It gets to the screen where XP is loading and I'm pretty sure I can see the blue screen of death for a split second, then it reboots and starts over. This process will keep going as long as wish. Any ideas how to fix this? Please help.
Thanks

Try tapping the F8 key when the computer is first booted. Then select to
boot in safe mode. You can then examine the OS for any changes that might
have affected the system.

Kind Regards,

Are you sure this sint a virus. NACHI did the same thing.
If you are not really seeing a blue screen then boot into
safe mode and run one of the major vendors trojan removal
tools.

If that does not work, make sure to check your bootlog and
see where it dies. Probably a driver issue if it is not
viri.

Go to System Properties / Advanced tab / Startup and Recovery / Settings /
uncheck Auto-Startup / reboot. This will give you time to view the blue
screen error. Repost if more help is needed with error information. Jym

If you feel comfortable, try removing all of your "extra" hardware that
is not needed for the system to boot. Just use the vid card and
keyboard and mouse and see if you boot. My feeling is that you ahve bad
hardware or a corrupt driver for a specific piece of hardware. Being
that he rebooted during a suspend, it should not have corrupted, but
this is Windows we are talkign about.

Good luck
