I have a printer installed on one computer on my network.
i wish to share that printer. i have enabled sharing but
on the computer i want to use the printer from there is
no way of finding it. the workgroup name is the same.
when i access the "show workgroup computers" area, the
only computer shown is the one which i want to use the
printer from. this computer has no printer. on another
computer in my network, i can use the printer and see all
my computers in the workgroup. any help on why i only see
one computer would be very much appreciated.

Let's start with some network diagnostics. This could take a few posts, so be
patient.

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

From each computer, test connectivity:
1) Ping itself by name.
2) Ping itself by ip address.
3) Ping the other by name.
4) Ping the other by ip address.
5) Ping 127.0.0.1.
6) Ping the router.
Report success / exact error displayed in each test (12 tests total).

From each computer, test shares visibility (use actual name / address of each
computer as appropriate) (be sure you have folders shared on each):
Start - Run then:
1) \\ThisComputerByName
2) \\ThisComputerByIPAddress
3) \\OtherComputerByName
4) \\OtherComputerByIPAddress
Report visibility of shares / exact error displayed in each test (8 tests
total).

And please don't contribute to the spread and success of email address mining
viruses. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a bit
safer when posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the
internet - read this article.
