Computer frequently freezes up

Brian

Hi,
I am writing for help with my computer, which has recently
began freezing up random times a day when I try to use
it. I first noted this problem a few days ago when I
tried playing music or movie files and it would instantly
crash, leading me to hit reset. Now it seems to freeze up
at random times as I try to use applications such as
Internet Explorer. I also occasionally get a blue screen
message telling me theres an error and it is going to dump
physical memory. I never had this problem before and it
really is frustrating trying to use the computer just to
have it crash. I am running Windows XP on my system.
What can i do to diagnose the problem and fix it.
Anyone with any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Brian

I would say first, do a defrag or Speedisk. Do a check for
viruses. Then do a check of your memory. Do you have
Symantec's Norton System Works? If you don't, get it, it
helps a lot in fixing registry errors and such.
