Computer Freezing

Computer keeps freezing up, and CTRL ALT DELETE isn't bringing up the Task Master

Ending up having to unplug the system, just to free it up

Any common recommendations you can offer, would be much appreciated.

This sounds like the same trouble that I have been having. It happens especially when I am printing. It seems that I go to 100% cpu usage, just before the system freezes.
I find that my Virtual Memory settings don't stay set when I reboot.
I am running XP Pro. The MB is Epox 8KTA3+Pro with Athlon rated at 1.1 GHZ. I am currently running at the default of 850 MHZ, with 256 M RAM.
The HD is 30G WD ATA100. "C" partition is 5.02 GB with 2.84 free, and just defragged. "D" partition is 22.9 GB with 4.7 free. I am using FAT32, and not NTFS.

I am logged as an administrator, and can not get the paging file settings to "stick" regardles of whether I am putting the paging file on either or both partitions.

I have gone through the KB articles, and tried to follow them, but nothing works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Start by downloading Adaware and / or update Reference file from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
and use it to remove parasites.

What processor speed? How much RAM memory?

How good is your housekeeping?

1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.

2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.

3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.

4. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.
