Computer Freezing

I am using Windows XP Home Edition and, having been
infected with a virus on 2 Jan, I am having trouble with
my computer freezing repeatedly. I removed the virus
following the steps recommended on this website (enabling
firewall in XP, downloading critical updates, installing
new anti virus software as my old software was useless
and finally removing the virus with the new software).
Everything seems to be back to normal except the freezing
issue. My computer used to freeze every now and then but
nothing like this. I would appreciate it if anyone has
any suggestions as to why this is happening and any ideas
on how to stop it.

I've had this problem once and the only way out was backing up my critical files and formatting the entire HD. There are several utilities over the net that help finding the exact cause of these problems. Using google or yahoo you can try "windows XP repair utilities" and they'll present you with great software that may solve your problem! But remember: formatting is the best choice yet, if you have someone to get your HD and burn your critical files!

I also have issues with XP Prof. freezing. I already spent
a whole day yesterday formatting the hard drive &
reinstalling XP. Yet I am on hold with Microsoft now with
the same issue.
