Computer Freezes when External Hard Drive Is On

I have a Western Digital External Hard Drive. It was working on my computer
and all of a sudden, when I turn it on, it freezes my computer. It works on
all of my other computers. It worked on this one for at least 5 months and it
all of a sudden stopped.
Please help

Presumably you're talking about a USB drive. Start the
computer first and plug in the drive later on.

do you mean the whole usb hard drive or just the box around it. Sorry to
sound so stupid.

How are other USB devices behaving on this computer? What
was the external hard drive doing when the computer froze?
Since the WD External Hard Drive is OK on other computers,
checked Device Manager for warnings? Or Event Viewer for
any error messages?

My other usb devices are working fine. It's just the WD Hard Drive. I can't
check the device mananger, because my computer freezes and I do anything but
turn off my computer with the on button. I can't even use ctrl alt del. I
checked the event viewer just now, but I did not see anything about the I
drive (where my hard drive is located).
