Computer does not resume after hibernation

I put my laptop into hibernation. Upon restarting the computer, the words
"resuming windows" appear, but nothing ever happens. How can I get my
computer to reboot?

Thank you very much, the article identified the file I needed to delete. I
used the install cd to access the recovery program. It has been a long, long
time since I had to use DOS commands. Is it like never forgeting how to ride
a bicycle? No, I'd forgotten a lot; but I remembered enough to get to the
root directory & delete the offending file. Thanks again!
