Computer does not restart but shuts down

Whenever I call for a restart, my computer simply totally shuts down.
I have to manually restart it. Is there a setting to remedy this ? TIA

This could happen due to 2 reasons. It can be due to the operating system
issues. Check if you have installed service pack2 for windows XP. CAuse we do
have issues with shutdown and restarting isues with service pack 1.
Or this can be a issue with the power supply of your computer. You may have
to change it.

Keep us updated so that we can find a fix for you

I also have this problem as well as my dad. We both noticed this problem
about 2 months ago. No new software or hardware was added.

I have Service Pack 2 and replaced my power supply a year ago. Why
would the power supply have any impact on this problem.?
