I'm using a Compac Presario 6000 with Windows XP, 2002 Version and Service
Pack 2. Lately, the clock on the computer is losing time. I always have to
reset it to the correct time. Why is this happening? What can I do?

Purchase and install a new CMOS battery on your mainboard.

And make sure your Date and Time Properties > Internet time"Automatically
synchronize with an Internet time server" is checked.

I once called a comp compay to make a 'purchase' the guy was busy and
stressed, I told him I wanted to make a purchase. He offered to call me
back or have me hold. I held.
He said, ok, go on. I said, "i'd like to purchase a usb-ide adaptor?"
He says, "yes, yes, what else?" I said "that's it".
He said
"That's £3 !! That's not a purchase!!"

He's right of course. I never went to a newsagent to purchase a
chocolate bar. ;-)

They're easy to get hold of. I think they are marked with 2 letters -
like CR - followed by a number. And any battery as long as it statrs
with those 2 letters, is ok/compatible. I'm not sure about that though.
An electronics store or even some corner shops should have them.

With laptops, maybe you lift the keyb up to get to the MBRD where the
CMOS battery rests. A little round metal thing. similar looking to a
watch battery.

or unchecked. The prob is likely the cmos battery. The loss of time is
a symptom.
If his time synchronized, he may not have noticed the problem!
