Hi,

My home computer runs XP and is connected to a local
phone line through which I dial up my ISP. The phone
line is shared with the home telephone.

The computer shuts down normally. However, everytime
someone uses the phone and hangs up after a call, the
computer automatically starts up by itself.

How can I stop this ?

Maybe the option of "Wake on Ring" in your motherboard is activated. Disable
it in your system setup.

I think there is an option to do so in the BIOS. I had a similar problem,
but disabled "Wake On Call".
I can't quite remember where in bios it's selected/deselected. Do you know
which bios you have (Award, AMI)?
