A lot of my files have compressed on their own (in a light blue colour) - I
didnt authorise this (not that I am aware of).

I know how to change them back manually, singularly, but there are far too
many to do this way. Is there any magic button I can click on to revert all
my files back to normal - i.e. not compressed?

This is done automatically by XP. They should return to normal when you
access those files again.

Yes, but I'm not likely to go to every single file that has been
compressed - I'd still have to change them back manually or else open every
single file :-(
