compose font not working

In Live Mail I selected a default signature. I was not able to edit the font
from Ariel for the signature. I did select Comic Sans for my default compose
font. However, my emails only show in the default (Ariel) font. I would
like to change the font for my signature, and have my email automatically
written in Comic Sans. By the way, when I email someone from, say, a
website, I do get the Comic Sans font. Why doesn't the option for sending
emails work when I have a signature, and how can I change that?

1. Are you sending in HTML format?
2. If you're using a stationery its settings override the Compose settings.
