When I check a task as complete it is still shown (crossed out) on the
Outllook Today view. Is there a way to have it dropped from view?

Thanks,
Joe M.

Are you assigning Due Dates to your tasks? If so, in the Customize Outlook
Today dialog you can set Outlook Today to show only the present day's tasks,
which will get rid of all of the older tasks. I imagine you already knew
this, and are looking for a way to get the tasks to automatically not show at
all once you've marked them as completed.

Yes I am assigning due dates. I do not want to be limited only to the present
day as I would like to see future day's tasks and past ones not completed
yet. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Joe M.

I'm afraid not. I have always found that I had to bend my way of working to
Outlook's will. I much preferred Lotus Organizer, but I guess there isn't a
version of that that even works under Vista. You have my sympathy. I guess
I've just been whipped by Microsoft. But I'll watch this thread with interest
to see if anyone has suggestions.

There are a number of other seemingly arbitrary limitations in the way
Outlook works that also annoy me. The application seems to offer all sorts of
customization for useless bells and whistles but lacks cusomization on some
very basic points like this one.

At least the last two versions have been reasonably solid.
