Complete Shutdown

For the past several months whenever I open Internet
Explorer, surf around for a while and then when I'm done
and close IE (either by File:Close or the Close in the top
right corner) my Dell latitude completely shuts down and
goes black screen. It then restarts and runs through its
routine like I shut it down improperly. It never did this
before (I've had it since July of '02) and I've downloaded
all the newest service packs and updates, I've uninstalled
IE and reinstalled it to no effect. It doesn't do it
every time, only when I don't want it to. What the hell
is going on?

I have a similar problem; but it seems to happen whenever
I have highlighted something in one of the pages I brought
up. It's a pain, but before you close IE, close all the
windows you've opened and be sure nothing is selected
by "right clicking" the page.

I'm trying to find better solution - but for now, that's
my work around.

Such behavior is NOT normal for Windows. I'd recommend you hop on over to
TomCoyote's website and run HijackThis (http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/) and
post the logfile here. You may also want to download and install Ad-Aware
and/or Spybot.
