Not necessarily. Some applications may be dependent on operating system
features that are in XP but not in 2000. The application creator or
vendor should be able to tell you. If you have questions about specific
applications, posting them to an appropriate newsgroup may get the
information you need. Otherwise your only course of action is to try it
and see what happens.
