Compatibility of Outlook & Outlook Express

I need to synchronize my phone numbers from my phone with my desktop
computer. I've bought a kit that includes the USB cable for the Motorola
phone. The instructions for the software says to synchronize with Outlook
or Lotus Notes. I don't have either. Is there a simpler way to
synchronize my phone numbers. If not, can Outlook and Outlook Express
co-exist on my desktop using Windows XP? Many thanks.
