compatibility of oracle

Iam a student of computer science and I have run into problems.
1.can someone please enlighten me regarding the correct version of oracle
which should be installed on a system running windows xp?
2.I tried to install oracle 8 and the result is a mess with oracle not
installed and Iam not able to delete the partial installation(d:\orant).my
xp is installed on drive c. how do I remove this?

For Question 1, go to Oracle's website and look at the System
Requirements. I'm sure they are posted. For Question 2, do a System
Restore back to a date before you installed the wrong Oracle.
