I have a special purpose program written in DOS that used
to work fine on Win98 and Win ME. Now that I have
upgraded to XP/Pro, the program will not run. I have
tried all the compatibility modes manually, and the
compatibility Wizard, but no luck! Are there any other
options?
I really need this program. (The windows version of the
program is about $ 5000.00 which I cannot afford)

(The name of the DOS program is CPLAN)

Thanks in advance.

Do you have to be in Windows to run the program? Can you
use a Win9x/Me boot disk and then run your program from
withing DOS (not DOS window).

Hope this helps!

Hi
The other option is to get a "virtual machine" .I use Vmware
,www.vmware.com, and install win98 in that. that will then run as a window
on your desktop and as another machine on your network. If you are on a
stand alone machine then you can run on a "virtual " network inside your
machine so you can move data between them easily. Also you can copy & paste
text between screens/PCs , try doing that with two real machines!
costs around $200 and you can try it out for 30 days before hand.
Hope that helps

Startin with a boot up ME floppy, and running the DOS
Program from the RAM drive worked.

Although I had to make a copy of the DOS program on a CD,
and then copying it to the RAM drive, given that ME does
not recognize NTFS.

Thanks for the help
