Compare/Blackline does not show removed header

I am comparing two documents in which the header was removed from the second
version. When I run the blackline all the other changes are correct, but the
header is still on the new document with no indication that it was removed.

In comparison settings, I DO have the option to include headers and footers
checked.

If it's still in the new document, then it wasn't removed, and Compare
is giving you correct information.

Note that once a header/footer has been put into a document, you can
never get rid of it -- you can delete everything in it, and make it
very very small, so that it has no effect on your document, but it'll
still be there.

Removing the header is a change in the document. It should show up in the
comparison as a deletion, since it was removed in the version it is being
compared to. Am I missing something?

The second version does not show a header on screen, because it was
"removed", i.e., all the text in the header was deleted. The blackline should
be showing that the text in the header was deleted. Why even have to option
to compare headers/footers if this is not the case?

You don't have Show Non-Printing Characters turned on, do you. If you
did, you'd see that there's still a header there, albeit an empty one.

Still, if the text has been deleted, I agree that a change bar is in order.

I just ran a test -- the Compared Document shows both the deleted
header text and the change bar when in Print View in Final With Markup
mode, and nothing when in Final mode. In Draft View, there's a list of
changes at the left that includes the deleted header material.

In that case, Lydia's copy is not functioning as designed.

Where do I check to find out if I have Show Non-Printing Characters turned
on? I cannot find it in word options or compare/track changes options.

No, Show Non-Printing Characters is not on.

Ok, I see that you have to look in the reviewing pane. The header/footer
changes do not show up in the document itself like all the other changes do.
Thanks for you help.

If it's on, you would see the non-printing characters, such as
paragraph marks and a dot in each typed space.
