Compaq Laptop XP load problem

Greetings Folks:

I now have really odd problem.
With Power cord attached, the lapt top struggles to XP.
Consistently after few seconds of boot it shutsdown.

With Battery, i can get to full load of XP. and able to
see files and run programs. but after minutes (15 mins) it
shuts down.

In Safe mode, (only get here with battery) it is fine.
stays on forever.

Any idea what could be the problem, How I can reolve it.

I tried to use the Restore disk, it comes wth abort,
retry..etc..

Thanks for your reply. I tried this. It help , stays
longer certainly, but still shuts down.

Try running on AC with the battery removed. You battery may be going bad.
