Compact Repair 2003 in VISTA

Running MSA 2003 in VISTA

Is it just me - or
will MSA crash on Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and Repair Database ...
every time where a Form has been specified as a start up form in
Tools | Start Up... | Display Form/Page:
?
viz = create a happy db then add a start up form and then try Compact/Repair
Fails every time for me until I remove that form's entry from the Start
Options.

I'll try it on an older PC too - and update this Q if I find VISTA to be the
cause.

Any thoughts welcome.

If I understand you correctly, you're running compact and repair and the
new .mdb crashes?

This normally indicates a corruption error in your startup form (code).

Basically you can test your form before applying to options mentioned on
Allen's site: Remove the entry in the start up form. Compact and Repair.
Start the form manually. If it still crashes...

I do the most of my development on Vista (access 03), and have a boot form
under startup options, but have never experienced this. I do compact/repairs
regularly. I can't image what the issue might be, but I've never had an
issue with it.

If your startup form happens to be hidden (mine closes as soon as my
autoexec is done running), then maybe trying to compact/repair with an open
form is causing the issue.

The safest way to do it would be to hold the shift key (bypass startup
options) when opening the DB. I do make it point to not compact/repair
unless I open the DB like this.

Thanks for your comments chaps.

I was interested to hear that others don't experience this problem
I uninstalled Office and then reinstalled it.
I also ran a RegCleaner - not something I'd normally do in Vista!
Yesterday these steps had no effect, but after a Cold PC start - today I can
no longer recreate the problem...so I'm presuming it's now fixed.

So I'll put it down to "another" installation/environment issue.
(I've seen a number of problems crop up in Office since I downloaded then
"tried" to uninstall the Office 2007 Trial SW.)
