Compact on close

Is this option per Application or per Machine? If I
select "Compact on close", will it work on every database
on that machine, or just the one that was opened when I
selected the option?
 
From my testing, open one database, set the option, close the database, open
another database, verify the option. It appears to be per mdb file.

You're right, it is .mdb (and .mde) specific.
