We have lost a 70 meg Access 2003 mdb. The user did a Compact and Repair on
the database and later when they went to use it they received the "Prior
version of Access error" and the file size is listed as 1 meg. I used Frank
Millers program (that has been referenced here) to try and retreive the
tables but no tables are found. Unfortunatly, the daily backups they were
making does not contain the MDB. I am searching the disk for lost or deleted
copies of the mdb to try and recover some of the data. It occured to me that
the Compact and Repair creates a temporary file then removes it, because I
have received error messages when compacting large mdbs and a user has
accessed it before the compact is finished. As I recall the error was
someting like not being able to replace the mdb. Does anyone know what
extension the temporary file may have or its naming convention? It will make
searching the drive with my recovery program much easier.
