Hello ken, it is a Dell Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 1.70GHz 1.70Ghz, 128 MB of
Ram and well when I say Slow I mean when I double click internet explorer it
takes awhile for it to come up ( not the web page just the program)and when u
try to close the program down it starts from the top and slowly closes from
top to bottom it happens with every program I use like winamp for example.
When I say slow I mean try and compare it to a computer from 5-6 years ago
like a celron 600 which was my old comp to this one and it seems to be alot
slower I cant figure it out. PLz help with this.

My comp is really slow I have defraged ,Virus scan , addware
scand
and it is still really slow not sure what to do and the only
thing
that I could think of doing now is to format and it isnt
something
that I really want to do. Need help

Please help us to help you. What hardware are you running (mostly

Please help us to help you. What hardware are you running (mostly
tell us what CPU you have and how much RAM)? Exactly how slow is
"really slow."

Put some numbers on these things and we'll try to help.

Do you feel it is "really slow" in relation to other computers of similar
capabilities or because at one time it was "really fast"?

If the former, then it may be a configuration problem. If the latter, then
you are just witnessing the Windoze eXPerience that most users eventually
go through given enough time and installation of more and more bloated
software.

You might try adding an additional 128 meg of ram, or more.
That should be fairly inexpensive and can be put in by anyone
with a bit of experience and care with little risk.

I did that for my mother's Dell, that isn't used for anything
but sending an email now and then, and cautioned her that she
might not even be able to tell if it was faster. But soon she
did tell me that she could see it was faster now.

(if you wanted to you could add 256 meg of ram or maybe even
512 but the extra increase will not be nearly as noticable
as with the initial 128 increase)
