Comp freezing

For some reason my computer starts to freeze or run slow when using the
internet. I use a cable modem and it is working fine with speed and all I
already called a cable tech to check.. so its my computer. Howcan i fix
this? I use Windows XP home, and I do a disk clean-up and defragment, and
virus check and spyware check.
