Finally broke down and decided on the parts for the replacement PC's for the
wife and I. The PC's will be fairly similar, but she doesn't game much and
also won't overclock. Myself, I'll do some gaming and push the clock a bit.
Machines should be quiet and stable.

Just looking for some comments on my choices of parts/manufacturer or where
I might want to tweak the configurations.

Both systems will have...
Mainboard - Asus P4C800 Deluxe-UAY
- onboard 6 channel sound
- onboard 3Com gigabit LAN with cable testing
CPU - P4 2.6Ghz with 800Mhz bus, retail
HDD - Western Digital 120gig Caviar 8meg SATA drive, 3 year wty
FDD - 3.5" black floppy drive
Case - Antec Sonata with TruePower 380watt PSU (Really want the P160, but
too much money!!!)
TV Tuner - MSI 8876 with remote

In mine I'll use...
Video - FIC Radeon 9600Pro 128meg AGP 8x on a 21" Dell P1110 monitor
RAM - OCZ 2x256meg PC4200 DDR with copper heat spreader 3-4-4-8 timings
Mouse - Logitech MX700 cordless optical
Keyboard - ??? Can't find a decent ergo keyboard!!! Where's the INS key, MS?

The wife will use...
Video - Matrox G550 dual head videocard on two 19" KDS monitors
RAM - 2x256meg Kingston DDR 400
Mouse/Keyboard - Logitech cordless ergonomic

....also sharing...
Two Gemini USB2/Firewire enclosures holding:
- LG 4x DVD-+RW drive
- LG 52x24x52 CDRW + 16x DVDRom drive
Linksys 8port Gigabit switch.
Brother HL1435 Laser printer.
Canon i860 photo printer.
Kodak 4530 5megapixel digital camera + Viking 128meg SD card

Ball-bearing? Decent performance but too noisey IMO.
I'd go with a fluid bearing drive, though I don't think WD has any yet
with 8MB cache.

Ahh... I knew there was a reason I was being leary of this drive. I was
going to use a Maxtor, but I *HAVE* had a few of those and they were LOUD!

I really wan't the WD 74gig Raptors, but at $375 it's just too much. The WD
is around $150 (as is the Maxtor).

Thanks!
