command prompt closes

When I try to open command prompt from run command it
closes before it can be viewed What file might control
this win2k. Also no donloads work for updateing windows
could this be the same problem. Updates start to download
and than and error "No updates installed" any Ideas

What happens when you do this Start | Run | cmd /k | OK

Your trying to run a command without opening the Command prompt first.
To open Start | Run... | com /k
Now, do your command........
when you get through
type EXIT (enter)
