command prompt and keyboard function?????

I am looking for some help. XP is supposed to run ms-dos based applications. If I change the properties of command prompt to full screen I lose both keyboard and mouse function. If I leave it "windowed" I retain their function but I require full screen to install what I require. I have seen other xp machines where the function is retained which leads me to believe that it should be a simple configuration but I'm not sure how. Hope you have some insight.

Hey,
I am thinking maybe Windows isn't letting you select
the MS-Dos window when you go fullscreen. My suggestion
is upon bootup, instead of running explorer.exe, run
cmd.exe. The way to do this is while booting up, press F8
(I'm pretty sure its F8). It will bring you to a menu,
choose cmd.exe or command prompt. Try it then. Also,
maybe in fullscreen in windows you should try Alt-Tab.

This is related to your display adapter - usually SIS or Ndivia - new
drivers may fix the problem or uninstalling extra display software.

You can get near to full screen by installing extra fonts - search for
Dosfon.
