Command not found

I have a system running 2000 professional which when I
type in "ipconfig" or "ping" I receive the "command is
not recognized as an internal or external command error".
I can type path and the %sytemroot%\system32 is in the
path and the commands are in the directory. If I change
to C:\winnt\system32 and type the command it will work. I
appreciate any information or help.

Thanks,

RockR

try running "ipconfig.exe" or "ping.exe" and see if
that works.

It sounds to me like there may be
a ping.bat, ping.cmd, etc in your default directory or
path prior to system32. My guess is that it would be
safe to delete them
