Does anyone know of a WinXP-compatible command line utility that can
force file handles closed?

Sysinternals doesn't have such a utility (Process Explorer can do it,
but it's a GUI application; Handle.exe can't do it at all). I've found
some utilities that can force handles closed and then also delete files,
but I don't want that. I also know that I can use CHKDSK, but I really
don't want to do that. The Resource Kit utility OH.EXE doesn't offer an
option to force handles closed.

So what you really want is some way to keep your wife from
finding your porn.

Have you any clue what a "file handle" is? It is a way of referring to
a file being open and in use by an application. It has nothing to do
with deleting or hiding files. Dumbass.

Very helpful replies. Thanks a lot. I fail to see how you get "porn"
out of advice regarding a simple command line util, but whatever. It
must be the first thing on *your* mind...
