COMException 0x80028018 - old or wrong library - newbie to automation

Hi All!

I try to run sample programs automating excel and always get above error
when calling functions on _Application _Workbook or _Worksheet.
As my Word samples run smoothly I do not understand the reason for getting
that excpetion. Any suggestions?
