Check your network connections. Control Panel, Network
Connections. Make sure your computer sees a Verizon
Modem, and it is enabled. If not, call Verizon support.

more info needed, did you delete any conncections for
comcast, did you go into lan settings and remove any
selected settings?

what is you ip address, default gateway, can you ping
www.yahoo.com or its ip address.?

can you ping 127.0.0.1,or your ip address or the default
gateway?

dsl thru wireless router or directly to usb or ethernet
card?

is xp firewall on or off is a third party firewall
installed?

your post is devoid of information and help is impossible
with such a vague ,useless, pointless post.

Jeeze, lighten up....this is the first time I've used this so I didn't know just how detailed I'd need to get before the reader got bored to death..
Yes, there probably were some files deleted from the Comcast install. I didn't do the "un-install, so I don't know what was deleted
This is a linksys wireless B network. There are 5 other computers on it and all of them are connected and work fine. As I said, my daughter just moved back home and she had a cable modem
I've disabled all the firewalls. I've gone thru the network connections and everything is as the other computers are. The computer sees the network. The signal strength is excellant.
I haven't tried pinging, but I will.
IE was still coming up with the Comcast "C" so I'm guessing that it's still looking for the Comcast connection/path to the internet. I uninstalled IE then re-installed it....didn't work
What else can I tell you to let you help me

I'm not sure what the Comcast "C" is unless Comcast's software was installed
on the pc. I use Comcast and never installed any software. It was only a
matter of making sure the firewall in IE was off, and no settings in the IE
Tools/Internet Options were checked. LAN Settings should be blank. IOW
nothing special was done to check for a connection. If the pc has Comcast
software on it somewhere then I'd recommend uninstalling it...check both the
add/remove programs and your c: drive. Here's a link on the Verizon
Customer Support page for help in doing a self-install:
http://onlinehelp.verizon.net/default.asp?problem=2233

Also, one other possibility is that the signal/channel on your router may
require changing. I had no problems with my modem or my new wireless
Belkin. I then installed a second pc in the home w/a wireless pc card and
suddenly my own pc's connection kept failing while the other pc accessed the
web just fine. It ended up being a problem with the wireless router channel
and Belkin had me go online to change my settings. I know you're not using
Belkin but I figured it was worth throwing out there in case the same
problem is happening with your router.

"c" is just the comcast branding of IE. Ignore it. Power cycle your
modem and router. Restart your computer. See if that helps. I
routinely move from a comcast to a verizon dsl network and back and
usually do nothing to get a connection either wired or wireless, except
from time to time on both systems the modem MAC address pool gets filled
and needs a power cycle to clear it on both systems.

Thanks for the reply Tara.
I ran into some of the same issues with Linksys...had to change the channel...but now all work but this one and it's making me crazy.
I'm to the point where I've changed so many things, I'm ready to re-format and just start all over again. All the data files have been saved, so maybe.......
I just hate to go thru it all.

Thanks for the reply, Q.
The router, etc has been powered down several times....all seems fine. Five other computers connect and have no problems. SO this being the one that migrated from a cable modem/Comcast...made me think that was the issue. Maybe it's not....but it still can't connect.
Any other ideas short of doing a clean install of windows are welcome

You might also try un plugging the router while holding down the re set
button. Leave the router off for 30 seconds or so. I had similar
problems that this solved them for me.
